  With the progress of Digital Convergence and Ubiquitous technology, mobile phones are developing by applying functions and features of various portable devices.
   
  ROA Group is focusing on mobile phones that are leading the Convergence and continuously analyzing the direction of evolution of these convergence-leading mobile phones in Korea, China and Japan.
 
     
 
Why do we focus on this report?
 
 
  Korea, China and Japan are the countries where device convergence is happening the fastest in the world. Convergence devices with various technologies can have an essential role as a bridge connecting industries, information media, media, enterprise and a user. In addition, trends spotted in the above mentioned countries are developing into global trends.
   
  ROA Group will present device convergence trends in these countries to its global customers and provide insights and guidelines for setting up future strategies and plans considering portable devices.
 
     
 
How to evaluate
 
 
  By using a device, 3 kinds of user needs are satisfied - Memory, Expression and Transmission. Therefore, ROA Group divides Functional Factors into the 3 above mentioned categories and evaluates them accordingly. Memory is for storing data such as voice or image on the device and Camera, External & Internal Memory fall under this category. Expression means expressing oneself by using the device and Sound and Display are included in this category. Finally, Transmission refers to transmitting voice or data, and Short Distance Wireless Communication, OS, Platform, Browser and UI belong to this group.

  Value Added Service Supporting Factors refer to the functions that are needed when the user wants to use the device¡¯s Basic Interaction Supporting Factor to apply more value added services. ROA Group is dividing the Value Added Services into 4 unchangeable factors - Communication, Entertainment, Information and Finance. Communication includes Telephony and Messaging while Game and Multimedia are included in Entertainment. Information includes PIMs, Electronic Dictionary, Voice Recording, e-Book and LBS while Commerce, Banking and Electronic Verification can be included in Finance.
